All that is presently known is that it was reported that there were two vans and car that was said to be involved in the crash on 4280 Bloss Mountain Rd at the intersection of the on and off ramps.

It was said the first vehicle was towed from the scene prior to these photos being taken.

Local police said they were still working on the paperwork and would comment later.

Blossburg residents have requested numerous times for a traffic light at this intersection to prevent someone from being killed in a crash like this one today.

School Board Meeeting UPDATE:

Keith Yarger, STSD Superintendent, is proposing that North Penn High School be closed after next school year, leaving all others schools open.

If Mr. Yarger’s proposal is approved, repairs on all schools EXCEPT for North Penn High School would be put out to bid, no repairs would be provided for that school.

For now, there will be NO closures, including Liberty High School, which will remain open next year.

The board will vote on whether to close Blossburg Elementary at their next meeting, but any closure would not occur this coming school year (2013-14).

We will provide more reporting, including details of the proposal put forward by Mr. Yarger.

The 10-0 victory by Wellsboro came with the help of freshman Jenny Young who had two hits and three RBIs. While Wellsboro pounded out 2 runs and 6 more in the second inning, the game remained scoreless up until the fifth inning where Wellsboro scored 2 more times. Putting the game at 10-0, it was stopped because of a shut out rule.

Save Our Schools (SOS) met last evening to discuss their strategy going forward with reference to the proposed school closure.

This coming Monday, Feb. 4, at 6:30PM the School Board will hold a public hearing and people will have a chance to speak.

The position of our newspaper has been, and remains, that local communities should control their destiny. We oppose the “One Big School” concept on principle as it violates community self-determination.

Closing Liberty High School or closing Blossburg Elementary are both a reflection of what we see as a State and not local agenda that is using regulations and funding models to corral schools into the OBS model. Our local representatives, especially Matt Baker, should be fighting to end the State’s efforts to micromanage our local affairs.

Sports Headlines- wellsboroathletics.com – Hornets top Wyalusing to improve to 15-1.

With a 69-57 win over Wyalusing, many are beginning to wonder if Wellsboro will ever lose on their continued streak. With only one loss of the season (not in the NTL either), Wellsboro has picked up 15 wins after their last game. The boys will be traveling to Liberty in hopes of increasing their 5-0 NTL west record.

Update- December 3- 2012- Liberty High School has been closed by the Southern Tioga School District-

Here is the article-

http://tiogafreedomist.com/one-high-school-to-close/

Southern Tioga County, PA- August 13, 2012

Ivo Fisic

The Southern Tioga County School Board has quietly voted 5 to 4 to close one of the three High Schools currently in the Southern Tioga School District.  Mansfield High School will be unaffected by this decision, meaning this will be the last year of existence for either Liberty High School or North Penn High School.

While the School Board approved work on the North Penn High School in Blossburg, the decision does not guarantee the High School will exist in August 2013, when the decision is set to take effect.  Whether North Penn High School or Liberty High School close, one of these communities will be missing a vital part of their community.2

The Tioga Freedomist will be running editorials on the pros and cons of this move, but we most want to hear from the parents and students of Liberty and Blossburg on how they feel about potentially seeing their respective High Schools close.

From the Minutes of the School Board meeting, here is the item that reveals the seminal decision this school board just made:
