Police in Williamsport are investigating after two people died in a shooting that occurred late on Monday, October 31st.


According to Williamsport Chief of Police David J. Young in a November 1st news release, police responded to a report of a shooting at 613 Poplar Street at 9:50 p.m. Police found two people with gunshot wounds. 50-year-old Kristine Kibler died at the scene. Her son, 25-year-old Shane Wright, was taken to the Susquehanna Health Williamsport Emergency Room where he died.


According to a Sun-Gazette report, police had responded to the residence on the evening of Friday, October 28th, for a report of a fight. Police say they have numerous leads that they are following up on. Young issued the following statement, “[Our] thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s families and we will do everything to bring this case to a successful prosecution.”
