One person was injured in a single vehicle crash that occurred in Eulalia Township on Thursday, November 3rd.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police in Coudersport in a report, 74-year-old Jack D. Hewitt of Coudersport was driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee on Dingman Run Road. Hewitt sped along a left hand curve in the road as his vehicle traveled to the dirt shoulder. Hewitt lost control of the vehicle as he tried to get it back on the road. The vehicle spun before the front driver side bumper hit the embankment. The driver side front and rear tire landed in the ditch, and the vehicle started to move backward along the ditch. Then, the vehicle traveled up the embankment where it rolled over on its passenger side. The crash occurred 82 feet to the south of T334 at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Hewitt was trapped in the vehicle, and he could not get his seat belt off. A passerby gave Hewitt a knife, and he was able to use the knife to get his seat belt off. Hewitt had minor injuries. He was taken to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital via Coudersport EMS. The Jeep had to be towed from the scene. Hewitt was charged with a moving violation.
