A motorcyclist from Winfield was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in South Williamsport on Wednesday, October 19th.
29-year-old Steven Kopera was headed south on Route 15 when a Ford Fusion that was in the northbound lane hit him head-on. According to a Sun-Gazette report, Chief Robert Hetner of the South Williamsport Police Department said that the Ford Fusion driver traveled for two blocks. Then, the driver made a west turn onto Sixth Avenue. The crash occurred on Route 15’s 100 block at approximately 10:10 p.m.
The Ford Fusion that hit Kopera was white in color. According to Hetner, the car is probably a 2013-2016 model. The car likely has damage to its front end. If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to call the South Williamsport Police Department at (570) 329-4066.
Kopera was seriously injured. According to Hetner, Kopera’s neck was broken. Kopera was taken to the hospital to be treated, and his current condition is not known. The Tioga Freedomist extends our thoughts and prayers to the family of the injured.
