A Mansfield man was charged with aggravated assault and more after a woman was stabbed during an alleged domestic disturbance on November 4th.
Court documents state that 26-year-old Michael David Post Jr. allegedly stabbed Barbara Shoemaker’s hand with a kitchen knife. Prior to the alleged stabbing, Post allegedly gained access to the home via the kitchen window. Shoemaker had previously told him he was not permitted to be there. According to police, Tara Taggert found Post in the bathroom shower where he was allegedly hiding. Taggert is Shoemaker’s mother.
Shoemaker and Taggert told Post he had to leave. Then, Post allegedly wielded a kitchen knife. That is when Shoemaker was allegedly stabbed by Post. Next, Post allegedly put the knife in the door of the bedroom. In addition to allegedly stabbing Shoemaker, Post allegedly made threats to Taggert. According to police, Post allegedly said he would go into Taggert’s home and cut her throat when she was sleeping.
Shoemaker had to get stitches and she might also need surgery. Police located the knife in the door of the bedroom. The knife’s handle, which had been broken, was located on the arm of the couch. Police also found blood on the knife’s blade, on the carpet of the living room, on the door, and on the wall of the bedroom.
After the alleged incident, Post allegedly fled the scene via the kitchen window and went on the home’s roof. According to police, they could not find Post after he went out the window. Numerous police agencies searched for Post, including the Blossburg, Wellsboro, Tioga, state, borough, and university police. Sometime during the evening hours, police located Post in a second-story apartment located beside a Subway on West Wellsboro Street. Post told police he was not at the home and that a disturbance did not take place. You can read Post’s court report below:
