February 17, 2014

Thick black smoke and high flames could be seen for miles, as firefighters from Clinton Township, Hughesville, Milton, Muncy, Warrior Run, Washington Township, Washingtonville and White Deer Township responded to the 3 alarm blaze.

Tioga Freedomist received a video from a reader, of the huge active fire that struck Bradley’s Fern  Park Restaurant on Monday, around 5:30 PM.

Bradley’s Fern Park was established in 1999, it  is owned by Dan and Sherri Bradley.  It consisted of several dinning areas and a bar.  The restaurant is located in Delaware Township, at 9175 Susquehanna Trail in Northumberland County.

The video provided by Damian Walker, appears on our Facebook page.  It shows the restaurant and tavern burning out of control as 8 fire companies battled the blaze.

There was little the firemen could do as the fire raged on for nearly 2 hours.  This fire quickly became a 3 alarm blaze as  firefighters from three counties responded to this fire.

The business happened to be closed at the time of the fire, according to reports from people in the area.   It was also reported that no one was living in the apartment located upstairs in the business.

When fire crews first arrived on scene flames had already burnt through the roof of the building.  Fire personnel fought the fire well into the evening.

One fireman was injured at the scene of this horrific fire.  He was taken to Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.  Thankfully, this person was treated and released later that evening.

The business looks like it was completely destroyed, however, that has not been confirmed.  In fact, fire officials say the business was severely damaged in the blaze.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated, as the State police fire marshal will be back at the scene sometime today in hopes of determining why this fire broke out..  It is also unknown if the business was fully insured.  There was no estimated value of loss to the business  at this time either.  The restaurant’s Facebook page is no longer active and Tioga Freedomist staff could not get the restaurant’s website to open either.
