9th Annual Step Outdoors Tryathlon and 5K Trail Run/Walk is Sep. 17

The 9th annual Step Outdoors Tryathlon and 5K Trail Run/Walk is on Saturday, September 17th, at Hills Creek State Park in Wellsboro. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. Registration and check-in is from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the tent located between the concession stand and the bathhouse at Hills Creek State Park. Food Stolen From Produce Shed in Eulalia Township

The Pennsylvania State Police in Coudersport are investigating after multiple items were stolen from a produce shed in Eulalia Township. According to police in a report, an unknown individual(s) took honey, maple syrup, and some product from the shed located off of SR 49. After stealing the items, the perpetrator(s) fled in an unknown direction. The Galeton Borough Police Department is warning residents about unauthorized solicitors in the area. According to the Galeton Borough Police Department, the solicitors are selling carpet cleaners. They lack the permit needed to sell items in the area. Police are asking residents not to open their doors if the solicitors knock. Two Shooting Incidents Reported in Lycoming County

There were reports of two separate shooting incidents in Lycoming County within the past day. According to a police scanner report, there was a suspected shooting that might have been self-inflicted on Thursday evening. The reported shooting incident occurred in Old Lycoming Township on Cherokee Lane. An ambulance and police both responded to the scene. Body of Missing Towanda Man Found

Sadly, the body of a Towanda man missing since Wednesday was found on Thursday, September 1st. According to the Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda, 69-year-old Marwill Gillette was last seen on Wednesday at about 10:00 a.m. at his Sheshequin Road home. Police began looking for him on Wednesday, and they resumed their search on Thursday. At about 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Gillette’s body was found behind his home in a wooded area.
