Accidents Slow Down Traffic In Wellsboro
By Lonny Frost (Nov. 18, 2013)
Wellsboro – The Tioga Freedomist has confirmed two accidents in Wellsboro, which were reported to us by a reader.
The two separate accidents happened minutes apart in Charleston Township. Thankfully, in both incidents there were no injuries to report. However, both accidents slowed down traffic greatly in Wellsboro.
The first accident was not reported to 911 dispatch center, as it was a minor fender bender that took place at the Weis Store entrance & exit area along Rt. 6. It is believed that insurance information was exchanged and the both vehicles drove away in a short period of time.
The second accident was reported to 911 dispatch center around 4:15pm. State police were dispatched to the intersection of Rt. 6 & Mt. Zion Road.
This accident was a more severe crash, as a SUV took on some heavy damage after striking a white sedan in the right rear. The SUV had smashed its entire front end of the vehicle.
Fire police assisted at the scene and set up flares to warn travelers. A State trooper took the report and filled out at least one ticket at the accident scene.
As you can see by the photos provided by Jacquie Knott of Wellsboro, that there were plenty of people standing around the scene. There were witnesses, passengers, drivers and some people who stopped to help.
Traffic was slowed down for approximately a half hour and was back to normal by 4:50pm.
Special thanks to our Wellsboro Reader, Jacquie Knott for keeping everyone updated.
